Artificial intelligence has taken over the world in recent years, and its applications can be found across all sectors of society. Today, AI is used in the military, medicine, education, robotics, and many other fields. But it has also slowly begun carving out its place in the multi-billion-dollar adult entertainment industry.

Imagine a world where machines are not only assistants in our everyday tasks, but also partners with whom we build emotional and intimate connections. Today, this is no longer just a futuristic movie concept or pure speculation, but a topic increasingly entering the focus of technological trends and social debates in Europe.

Artificial intelligence and future sex robots are becoming a space where deep philosophical dilemmas collide with concerns about human intimacy, privacy, data protection, and individual rights, as well as fascinating possibilities for new forms of social relationships.

As the industry moves from simple AI chatbots and silicone figures toward more complex systems that imitate conversation, behavior, and even personality, questions are emerging that go far beyond technology itself: how do these machines influence our understanding of closeness, are European laws and ethical standards ready to protect fundamental rights, and what will happen to traditional ideas of relationships and intimacy in a society that is increasingly accepting artificial intelligence in almost every aspect of life?

The Reality of Technology Versus Marketing

While some individuals and media outlets like to present today’s sex robot technology as something almost supernatural or close to perfection, the reality is quite different. Fully autonomous humanoid sex robots with real consciousness and the ability to experience emotions simply do not exist yet.

What is currently available on the market are mostly sophisticated but still very limited models. These are primarily silicone or thermoplastic figures with basic motor systems for simple movements, skin-like textures designed to mimic human touch, and AI chatbot systems capable of conversation or responding to touch, but without true autonomy or consciousness.

Although progress in robotics is undeniably significant and fast-moving, the technology is still in an early phase of development, even if it is advancing faster than many people realize.

It is clear that most products marketed today as “AI sex robots” are not truly autonomous AI systems. Instead, they are a combination of pre-programmed responses, scripted behaviors, and sometimes remotely controlled systems.

Much of the academic debate focuses precisely on distinguishing between the current reality and the growing cultural narrative that portrays robotic partners as something already fully developed.

Sex Robot Models on the Market in 2026

As already mentioned, the world of technology has started introducing models described as sex robots or companion robots. However, it is important to clearly separate marketing from reality. These devices are still not autonomous humanoid machines as seen in films, but rather advanced sex dolls with certain AI features.

Harmony

One of the most well-known examples is Harmony, a model from the RealDoll family, one of the most recognized brands in sex technology.

RealDoll products are manufactured by Abyss Creations, while the AI and robotics components are partly developed by their subsidiary Realbotix. Harmony is unique because it combines a physical body with an AI system capable of conversation, memory retention, and behavioral adaptation to the user.

Harmony is made from high-quality medical-grade silicone skin and features fully articulated joints, similar to other RealDoll products, giving it a realistic body appearance and movement. It can turn its head, blink, display facial expressions, and synchronize lip movements with speech. Its AI is designed to engage in basic conversations, remember personal user details such as preferences, friends' names, and favorite things, and adapt over time.

Today, Harmony remains one of the most commercially recognized solutions combining physical realism with artificial intelligence. However, it is not an autonomous or conscious intelligence.

Emma

Another example comes from China and is called Emma. Emma is an AI sex robot that combines a physical robotic form with integrated artificial intelligence, developed by Shenzhen All Intelligent Technology Company Ltd.

Emma is made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), designed to feel relatively realistic, combined with a metal skeleton that allows articulated movement and positioning.

It features touch sensors that detect physical interaction and produce sound responses depending on intensity. The robot also includes a heating system that brings its body temperature close to human levels (around 37°C), aiming to create a more realistic physical experience.

Its eyes can move and blink, the head can tilt and rotate, and the mouth mechanism synchronizes lip movement during speech. The robot can communicate in English and Chinese, recognize the user’s voice, and, according to the manufacturer, learn from interactions.

Tenar

Tenar is currently one of the more interesting examples of AI-enhanced companion robots in real-world development. It is presented as a next-generation model from Ridmii, a company active in the sex tech industry.

The model is built as a full-size silicone doll with highly realistic skin detailing, gel-based anatomy, and a flexible internal structure that allows stable positioning.

The key difference compared to other models is its animatronic head unit, capable of facial expressions ranging from smiling and eye contact to more subtle emotional mimicry.

Tenar’s “intelligence” is not based on independent understanding but on integrated language models connected via Wi-Fi, such as ChatGPT or DeepSeek, used to generate conversation.

In addition to speech interaction, Tenar includes sensor-based response systems, automated mechanical features, and body heating functions to enhance the sense of presence and physical closeness.

Advantages of Sex Robots

  • One potential function, beyond sexuality, is companionship. Users may treat these robots as partners or sources of emotional closeness, especially in cases of loneliness or limited social interaction.

  • Another possible advantage is use in sexual education or therapy, particularly for individuals dealing with social anxiety, disabilities, or trauma that makes intimate relationships difficult.

  • A third benefit is support for long-distance relationships or geographically isolated individuals, where a robot companion could partially simulate presence, conversation, and interaction.

  • A fourth advantage is health and safety. Unlike human sexual interactions, robots eliminate the risk of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies, and can reduce fear of rejection or judgment.

  • A fifth point often mentioned is sexual autonomy and exploration. Programmable systems allow users to explore preferences without social stigma.

  • Finally, some suggest that such robots could offer psychological comfort during periods of loneliness or emotional loss, although this remains a highly debated claim.

Disadvantages and Controversies Around Sex Robots

  • They may reinforce objectification and stereotypes, particularly toward women, as many models reflect idealized or submissive roles without mutual interaction.

  • There are concerns that they could deepen misogynistic attitudes and reduce empathy, since they do not teach real emotional reciprocity.

  • Ethical concerns arise around emotional attachment, as AI systems simulating affection may blur the line between real and artificial relationships.

  • Privacy and data security risks are also significant, since connected devices may collect sensitive user information without full transparency.

  • Critics also warn that such systems could normalize non-consensual or ethically questionable scenarios through simulation.

  • Finally, some experts fear reduced social skills and emotional intelligence if users begin preferring predictable AI interactions over real human relationships.

Conclusion

Like any emerging technology, AI sex robots carry both potential benefits and serious risks. While they are not yet fully developed autonomous systems, progress in this field is rapid, and their presence in society is gradually expanding.

As with all technological innovations, careful consideration is essential. The direction of their development will ultimately depend on human choices, regulation, and ethical boundaries.

One can only hope that sex robots remain tools controlled by humans and used responsibly to explore and understand aspects of human sexuality and relationships, rather than systems that begin to influence human behavior in unintended ways.
